April 20, 2009
The World Association of the Alcohol Beverage Industries,, Inc. (WAABI) announced today that it’s prestigious UNITY AWARD for 2009 will be presented to Craig Wolf, President and CEO of the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA). The award will be presented at a special UNITY Award Dinner on Monday, July 27 at the Hilton Alexandria ( Old Town) in Northern, Virginia. The event is a highlight of WAABI’s 65th Anniversary Leadership Conference being held at the hotel July 25-28. The 2009 Conference will focus on tax threats to the industry, new tactics against drunk driving, and other matters of concern to everyone associated with the alcohol beverage industry.
WSWA was created just one year prior to WAABI, in 1943, and today represents 330 wine and spirits wholesalers and brokers doing business in all 50 states. As CEO, Craig Wolf manages the day to day operation of one of Washington’s most influential trade
associations with an annual budget of $7.5 million, a staff of 19, and an important Political Action Committee. WSWA supports legislation, regulation and public policies at both the state and federal levels that promote the responsible distribution of beverage alcohol and the prevention of underage access.

While in the Washington, DC area, WAABI members will have the opportunity to enjoy several optional tours including George Washington’s recently restored distillery at Mount Vernon, and the Smithsonian’s Museums.
