COCKTAIL COMPETITION

TAMPA BAY SPIRITS FESTIVAL COCKTAIL OF THE YEAR  

Cocktail Judging, Industry Voting: 5:30PMPM-6:15PM
Cocktail Judging, Consumer Voting: 6:30PM-8:30PM  

The goal of the Polished Palate at each of our events is to locate & recognize the talented Bartenders in the areas in which each event takes place. All Polished Palate Events now include a Cocktail Competition, to be judged by a panel of peers (Industry Executives) and separately by attending guests.

HOW IT WORKS

Please prepare one specialty cocktail entry per brand*. Two judging panels will vote and decide the winning cocktail entry/entries: By the Industry and By the Consumer

Industry: Cocktail entries will be judged from 5:30 - 6:15PM by a team to include representatives from on- and off-premise

Consumer : Each attending guest will receive one chit to vote for their favorite cocktail entry at the Festival. Voting will take place between 6:30 & 8:30PM.

Winner/s will be announced at 9PM.  

COMPETITION RULES

Cocktails must include brands which are participating with a station at the event. Cocktail entries may include up to 5 ingredients, not including garnish & sugar. Submissions will be judged by the peers as follows: on Presentation 25%; Taste: 50%; Creativity/Originality 25%

LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER BRAND*

Brand definition: Clear Vodka, Flavored Vodkas, Genever Gin, Dry Gin, Single Malt, Blended Scotch, Single Irish, Blended Irish, Single Bourbon, Blended Bourbon, Unaged Rum, Aged Rum, Flavored Rums, Spiced Rum, Overproof Rum, Unaged Rhum, Aged Rhum, Unaged cachaca, Aged Cachaca, Flavored Cachacas, Absinthe, Pisco, Grappa, Brandy/Cognac, Flavored Brandy/Cognac, Tequila Blanco, Tequila Reposado, Tequila Anejo, Tequila Flavored, Fruit Liqueur, Other Liqueur

Example: If Don Q submits a recipe for Don Q Limon, no other entry can be accepted using Don Q Limon however a bartender/Don Q may wish to submit one with Don Q Pasion.  

DEADLINE FOR COCKTAIL ENTRIES:
Friday October 30, 2009  

All entries received by the above date will be posted on the Tampa Bay Spirits Festival site, along with the following:

• Photo of Cocktail Entry
• Cocktail Entry Recipe
• Name, bio (50 words) & head shot of bartender who created the Cocktail
• Logo and link to venue url of bartenders place of employment (listed as an Event Sponsor)
• Participating bartenders/venues submitting a Cocktail Entry will receive 2 VIP admissions to the event.
• High Res bottle shot/artwork of brand
  with link to brand website

All artwork must be supplied. Please submit all artwork in 300dpi to info@polishedpalate.com 

Judge Voting

Please prepare your cocktail entry (4 oz. pours only) to be served to judges beginning at 5:30PM.

Jeff Houck, Tampa Tribune, Paul Abercrombie, Author, Organic, Shaken and Stirred: Hip Highballs, Modern Martinis and Other Totally Green Cocktails

Consumer Voting

Attending guests will be given one voucher to vote simply for their favorite cocktail entry.  

The winning cocktail/s will be featured on the Polished Palate website and in all post-event coverage as the Winning Cocktail of the Tampa Bay Spirits Festival 2009.
