We are proud to announce that the Spirits of Mexico Festival and Events have been selected as the exclusive host organization to premiere the definitive program for aficionados seeking certification as Master Mezcalier. The introduction of this program consists of ascending Levels of courses as sanctioned by CONOCER (Consejo Nacional de Normalizacion y Certificacion de Competencia Laborales), COMERCAM (Consejo Mexicano Regulador de la Calidad del Mezcal), the Conservancy of Mexican Gastronomy, A.C. (Conservatorio de la Cultura Gastronomica Mexicana) and the Asociacion Pro Mezcal Culture A.C. Classes take place exclusively at Spirits of Mexico events.

The program consists of four ascending Levels of courses which need to be completed to attain the final title of Master Mezcalier. After completing each course, a certificate will be issued.

Level 1 Basic Mezcalier
Level 2 Intermediate Mezcalier
Level 3 Advanced Mezcalier
Level 4 Master Mezcalier*
* NOTE: Level 4 will be a hands-on program which will be conducted in Oaxaca. Candidates may be required to complete an essay in order to receive the final title, Master Mezcalier.

Level #1 New York City, 2011

The 1st Level class takes place on Thursday morning October 13 at Empellon Restaurant prior to the Spirits of Mexico event that evening. The Class begins at 11 am and will last approximately 4 hours.

  • Class size is limited to 20 candidates per
  • Plans are for Levels #1, #2 (possibly #3) in Las Vegas in March 2012 during the Nightclub and Bar Show in conjunction with the Spirits of Mexico event, at the Spirits of Mexico Festival in September and additional events to be scheduled.
