International Cane Spirits Festival® and Tasting Competition

From Ybor City to New York City to Park City.

Ybor City, Tampa Florida

Announcing a most unique concept, the US's first International Cane Spirits Festival® and Tasting Competition, Wednesday March 22 through Saturday March 25, 2006

Ybor City is one of only three National Historic Landmark Districts in the State of Florida. Cobblestone streets between cigar factory buildings, coffee shops and restaurants dating from the mid 19th century make up this charming and legendary town. Founded in 1886 by Vicente Martinez Ybor, Ybor City became "the cigar capital of the world" and now attracts large numbers of visitors to the wide variety of shops, restaurants, clubs, and galleries.

For three days beginning Wednesday March 22 and ending Friday March 24, visitors will be issued a 'passport' to tour the Rum Trail, consisting of restaurants and other venues 'transformed' into cane spirits producing countries. Savor rums, rhums and cachacas while learning about each country's heritage & culture.

On Saturday March 25, RumFest will take place from 2PM-6PM. Here is an opportunity to taste dozens of extraordinary cane spirits in one setting. The Rum Ball will take place that evening, to celebrate the Festival in true Ybor City fashion, at a festive Gala, and, we'll be announcing the winners of the cocktail contest, in search of the 'Ybor Cocktail'. Both the RumFest and the Rum Ball take place at 1410 N. 21st Street, former home to the Lozano Cigar Factory, now home to the Lions Eye Institute.
