Gaston Martinez currently serves as the West Coast Milagro Ambassador for William Grant & Sons. Martinez has spent over fifteen years in the Food & Beverage industry, earning numerous accolades for his mixology and bartending expertise.
Martinez began his career with an apprenticeship under famed mixologist and cocktail consultant Bobby Gleason, which sparked Martinez’s interest in and passion for mixology. He went on to attend Francesco LaFronconi’s prestigious Academy of Fine Spirits and Service. Upon graduating, Martinez became Bar Manager at Nora’s Cuisine, where LaFranconi named him the first “Neighborhood Mixologist” in Las Vegas. During his five year career at Nora’s, Martinez received national recognition for both his cocktails and his contributions to the burgeoning mixology scene in Las Vegas. During this time, renowned Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim named Nora’s the “Best Cocktail Bar off the Strip” and Simon Difford, author of the influential Difford’s Guide, named Nora’s one of the best cocktail bars in the world.
As an active member of the United States Bartenders Guild (USBG), Martinez has participated in a number of bartending and mixology competitions, such as the USBG Pan-American Games, where Martinez served as the official U.S. representative. Competing against bartenders from 29 countries, Martinez placed 4 th overall and was named a National Champion. Martinez was also a member of the winning Team USA in September’s 42 Below World Cup in September, as well as the 1 st place winner at the Skyy Nevada and 2 nd place in Skyy National.
In 2007, Martinez replaced Francesco LaFranconi’s as Nevada Chapter President of USBG, where he has the chance to train and mentor numerous mixologists in the Nevada area. Gaston is also currently a consultant for the Domain Group (responsible for the Food & Beverage for Thompson Hotels) where he serves on the Domain Group’s Board of Advisors. He has created cocktails for the Roosevelt Hotel and Rio Hotel bar menus, among other renowned venues.
